Conquer the world’s most iconic trail

Brave Nepal’s most iconic trekking route on this 15 days trip, with 11 days of trekking amidst the Eastern Nepalese Himalayas. Arrive at Kathmandu and explore the warrens of Thamel, take a scenic flight into the Everest Region and land at the world’s shortest runway at Lukla. Explore Lukla and trek to the world’s most popular mountain settlement of Namche. Trek through Himalayan settlements of Tengboche, Dingboche, Lobuche and Gorak Shep to Mt. Everest Base Camp, at 5,360 meters above sea level. Witness the sunrise at Kalapatthar and see Mt. Everest, the world’s tallest mountain, in all its glory.

Itinerary

Arrive at Kathmandu anytime. A comprehensive pre-trip orientation will be conducted at 1900 by your trek leader at the hotel. So make sure to arrive by then. Overnight stay in Kathmandu.

Take the morning flight to Lukla through scenic hills, and land at the world's most adventurous airport. Start your trek from Lukla. Walk past Chaurikharka village and descend towards Dudhkoshi Ghat (2,530m/8,300ft). Then walk along the bank of the mighty Dudhkoshi until arriving at Phadking (2,652m/8,700ft). Overnight stay in Phakding.

Keep to the banks of the Dudhkoshi River, cross the river via a suspension bridge at Benkar. Then trek to Monjo through a dense pine forest. Check-in to Sagarmatha National Park and get the permits, and then ascend uphill to arrive at the bustling Sherpa town of Namche. Relax and enjoy the scene. Overnight stay in Namche.

Acclimatize yourselves to the high altitude before heading any higher. Sleep as much as you want, take hikes to nearby villages like Khumjung, Kunde & Thame, or head to the Everest View Hotel, the world's highest hotel, to take snaps. Enjoy the scenes, relax, and explore Namche. Overnight stay in Namche.

Leisurely trek to Kenjoma, rest in front of the mighty Amadablam, and take the trail towards Everest Base Camp. Trek downhill to Phunki Tenga, have lunch, and then cross the Dudhkoshi again. Then ascend gradually to Tengboche. Overnight stay in Tengboche.

Trek downhill to Dibuche, and again uphill through rhododendron forests to the bridge crossing at the raging Imja Khola. Trek uphill, still, to Pangboche, have lunch, and continue on to Dingboche. Overnight stay in Dingboche.

Acclimatize yourselves to the high altitude before heading any higher. Sleep as much as you want, take short hikes nearby, enjoy the scenes and relax. Overnight stay in Dingboche.

Trek through barren landscape to Dughla, with the mountains always in sight. Have lunch, and trek a forbidding trail through the Dughla pass. Then go on to Lobuche. Overnight stay in Lobuche.

Start early from Lobuche, and trek to Gorakshep, through an easy trail. Tiredness is common here as you will be trekking through 4900 meters - 5300 meters altitude. The high altitude comes with benefits though, the cloud cover will be minimum and so you can witness the Himalayan glory to the max. Once at Gorakshep, check-into your lodge, deposit your luggage, and have lunch. Then hike on to Everest Base Camp. The trail now if treacherous and forbidding, and will be one of the hardest days on this trek. Reach base camp, takes photos and enjoy the feel of being amidst the Himalaya. And hike back to Gorakshep. Overnight stay in Gorakshep.

Wake up early and trek in the cold and the darkness to Kalapatthar, for the most glorious morning in your life. Be sure to wear suitable clothes against the hard cold and wind at Kalapatthar. Enjoy the sunrise view, take awesome snaps, and hike back to Gorakshep. Have your breakfast and trek to Pangboche via the village of Pheriche. Overnight stay in Pangboche.

Trek downhill to Tengboche via Dibuche, and trek via Phunki Tenga and Kenjoma to arrive at Namche. Rest & relax. Explore Namche if you are feeling upto it. Overnight stay in Namche.

Trek downhill to the Hillary Suspension Bridge and cross Dudhkoshi River. Trek via Dudhkoshi Ghat and Chaurikharka village to arrive at Lukla. Spend the last day of the trek at Lukla. Overnight stay in Lukla.

Take the morning flight to Kathmandu. We will transfer you to your hotel and help with the check-in. Spend the day at Kathmandu. You can spend the day your own way, or we can advise you on what to do.

Your flight from Lukla may be delayed due to weather problems, and since there is no flight to Kathmandu after 1000, you'll be forced to stay at Lukla. You may even miss your international flight back home if you have a tight schedule.
If everything is fine and rosy, we will organize a guided tour of Kathmandu for you on this day. Visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swyambhunath Stupa & Bhaktapur Durbar Square. Meals: Breakfast, dinner

Fixed Departure:

Choose one of our group departure dates and book your seat. Be a part of a fun group led by one of our experienced trip leaders. This trip focuses on value for money and on the interactions with people from all over. If you value privacy above all other things, this trip is not for you.

Private Trip:

If one of our group departures do not suit your calendar, or if you value privacy above everything else, choose our private trip option. Though the trip may not provide value for money as the fixed departures do, this trip will be organized entirely for your or your own group, on the date of your choosing, with specialized care provided to your requests.

Things to know:

Accommodation:

- On fixed departure trips, accommodations at Kathmandu and Pokhara will be organized at 3-star or similar hotels / resorts with all modern amenities.
On private trips, three accommodation options (standard, deluxe and premium) will be provided as choices. Accommodations will be arranged as per the chosen standard during booking. Read our accommodation standard article for more info.
Accommodations during the trek, on both fixed departure and private trip options, will be extremely basic, tea-houses and small lodges with sleeping and basic meal facilities. Modern amenities are usually absent, as is the hallmark of remote mountainous areas. 

Sharing & Supplement:

- All accommodations will be arranged on double and triple sharing basis, depending on the group sizes. If you are booking solo, our team will arrange a room sharing for your with a fellow traveler of the same gender.
A single room can also be availed on supplementary basis. The single supplement option will be provided as an add-on during check-out.

Starting & End points:

- Trips will start and end at the designated joining points in Kathmandu. The joining point will be an easily accessible hotel in the downtown areas within an hour’s drive from Tribhuvan International Airport. The specific names and address will provided after booking. A trip orientation program and meeting, starting from 1900, will be conducted at the joining point on Day 1, which the participants are recommended to attend.

Arrival & departure transfers:

- All trips, both private and fixed departures, do not include airport pickup & drop facilities on the base option. However, these options can be selected as add-ons during check-out.

- Everest Base Camp Trek (15 days) has a 5-Star physical rating. Please click here to know more about the physical ratings of our trips.
This trip will lead you through difficult terrain in higher altitudes (above 3000 meters). Trekking duration will be an average of 6 hours a day, through forests, and steep mountain trails. Please ensure that you are physically fit to go on this trip before booking.

Flight Schedule & Delays:

- Everest Base camp Trek (15 Days) has domestic flights (Kathmandu – Lukla – Kathmandu) included. Lukla, being an extremely rural mountainous area, is prone to flight delays due to weather and visibility issues. The trip has 1 extra day in Kathmandu, as buffer day, included to maintain schedule in such extreme cases. Longer stopover at Kathmandu or Lukla, even in cases of force majeure, will be subject to an additional charge of USD 40 per person per night.
